Defy The Land emerged as a deeply personal initiative, born from a sincere frustration with the escalating influence of the far right. The driving force behind this endeavor was to create a platform that would not only amplify my voice but, more importantly, envision a brand that champions diversity and equality. At its core, Defy The Land aspires to dismantle fashion stereotypes by embracing them in all facets.

This gender-fluid streetwear apparel brand is more than just clothing; it’s a mindset. Rejecting the notion of a world divided by countries, borders, and walls, Defy The Land sees the Earth as a unified expanse of land and water. The philosophy is simple: regardless of where you choose to reside, every individual should have the freedom to be themselves, unrestricted by inhumane systems, laws, or the fear of judgment. Our collective identity transcends color, gender, sexuality, body, or religion; we are all human beings, and together, we define the land. I aimed to promote a message of inclusivity and empowerment through fashion that breaks barriers and encourages a celebration of our shared humanity.

Navigating the competitive landscape of the fashion industry can be challenging, prompting the need for a distinctive approach to resonate across social media. In response, I devised a promotional campaign focused on dismantling stereotypes, delivering a clear and impactful message.

The centerpiece of the campaign was a thoughtfully crafted video, shot against the vibrant backdrop of Shoreditch, featuring four models adorned in different garments from our new range. The video culminated in a powerful moment, symbolized by the burning of a Trump protest sign, encapsulating the essence of breaking down barriers. Complementing this, we launched a series of four posters on social media, each carrying a key message: “Ain’t No Barbie,” “Define Color,” “Look Beyond Your Stigma,” and “Boys And Girls!”

The campaign has been met with an enthusiastic response, fostering engagement and propelling our Instagram following to over 5k within just five months of trading. Join us in celebrating a movement that transcends fashion, promoting inclusivity and challenging societal norms.

[Q] Are you open to 3 or 6-month contracts? [A] No, I prefer project-based work, keeps things fresh and interesting and allows me to work on multiple projects at any one time! [Q] Do you design websites? [A] Yes. and apps, that’s what we call UX/UI product design. [Q] What is UX/UI design? [A] It’s essentially website or app design. User experience (UX) and user interface (UI), I handle the design from start to finish. [Q] Are you a developer? [A] Price is relative, my window cleaner has a higher day rate! I offer big agency-level experience and design without the hefty bill. [Q] Why is your website so hard to read? [A] I get it, it’s a bit of an eye strain, but most people aren’t reading this stuff, it’s why I’ve put so much effort into the visuals, that’s what you’re really here for.
